1Sports and Training Program

1- Sports training is provided and followed by all bodies that care for people with mental disabilities inside Kuwait (schools - associations - private clubs).
2- Providing training and educational programs to prepare technical cadres of trainers, teachers and referees.
3- The Kuwaiti Special Olympics offers opportunities to participate in sports competitions of 26 Olympic sports for athletes with intellectual disabilities.

2Competition in sports

1- Players are divided according to gender, age group, and athletic ability, so that players of similar ability compete in one group.
2- It is stipulated that the difference between the highest and lowest achieved number during the division process for the players of one group does not exceed 15%.
3- Each participating player is honored regardless of the results achieved.

Special Olympics offers more than 30 Olympic-style individual and team sports that provide meaningful training and competition opportunities for people with intellectual disabilities.

4Types of games and competitions

1- World Games: They are held around the world and are divided into:
Summer World Games every four years
Winter Games every four years
2- Regional Games: These are games that are held at the level of the region (and in the Middle East and North Africa region, which are held in the year when there are no global games, i.e. once every two years).
3- Local Games: These are games held at the local level to select players to participate in regional and international games

5Young Athletes Program

It is a program targeting people with intellectual disabilities from 3 to 7 years old to introduce them to the world of sport and support them in the process of community integration.

And qualifying them on the basic skills that enable them to participate in sports such as (running and walking, balancing and jumping, holding and catching the ball, kicking the ball, and recreational games).
